Low Infection Rates

One of the many distinct advantages of a specialty surgical hospital like Edgewood Surgical Hospital is its very low infection rate of less than one half of one-tenth of one percent (0.048%) for the most recent one year reporting period. That compares to 7.71% for all other hospitals in Pennsylvania according to a July 2005 news release from the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council.

Deaths related to hospital infections are the fourth (4th) leading cause of mortality according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
